site & about

Velox Motors is located on the second floor of a commercial building and is naturally lit all year round owing to its glass facade on three sides, with unobstructed views of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. It is the back office for a dealership of a prominent automobile company. The clients, young and enthusiastic, desired an open, flexible, and non – hierarchical office space.

design

A stepping stone pathway leads you to the old building (core). On either side of the path is a dense plantation, layered in height to attract the fauna around. Anchored within, is a classroom, where we exposed the weathered brick walls of the structure. The classroom is the heart of the space, consisting also of two therapy rooms attached to it. Surrounding the core, we made extensions to this old structure using bamboo.

To the right of the stone path, lies the meeting cabins. One enters the cabins to find a low seating and a table for a brief consultation.

The space is intricately engineered in all aspects, from the partition system to the more minute details such as door handles, much like the careful manufacturing and detailing of automobiles. Large collapsible partitions enable gatherings of all teams whenever necessary. The follies in the centre act as catalysts for conversation and community work. The ubiquitous metal sections, polished birch plywood, cast-in-situ terrazzo flooring, exposed services, and grunge walls echo the industrial manufacturing processes.
