Urbanpod, India's first pod hotel is located within the impressive scale of one of the country's oldest
stations, Mumbai central railway station.
The station was articulated in steel, which was a language that was modern for its time, yet borrowed elements from the Mughal style of architecture.
A set of waiting rooms on the first floor overlooking the large waiting hall have been converted into this pod hotel, which responds to this existing language, creating an interesting composition of the old and new.
A metal fabricated staircase with basalt stone treads, takes you up into the lounge area that is flanked by classic pods on two sides. The balcony outside the lounge overlooks the intricately crafted marble inlaid floor of the reception lobby.
